About the IRDF
The Independent Residence Development Fund (IRDF) assists MIT’s fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups (FSILGs) by providing project grants, funding for educational spaces and equipment, and affordable construction loans.
For more than 50 years, the IRDF has been a major resource for MIT’s FSILGs, an essential part of sustaining the vitality of independent residential life at the Institute. The Fund continues to add new offerings and programs to meet the evolving needs and challenges of the FSILG community. In 2019, the IRDF significantly expanded its Project Grant Program to include not only accessibility and safety improvements, but also historical preservation and restoration.

Our challenger, the 484 Phi Alpha Foundation, is the charitable foundation of the alumni of the MIT chapter of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
The IRDF depends on the support of its alumni/ae
your gift to the Fund means a flourishing independent residence community for future generations of MIT students.
